Today is International Women’s Day, meaning that we are all celebrating the incredible accomplishments of women in their social, economic, cultural and political life.
March 8th is a significant day and this year we want to especially celebrate women-owned businesses!
As a part of this growing community of strong, successful and hungry women entrepreneurs, I am challenging you to think of the way you will support these women.
In particular, these past few years have been nothing but amazing for Black women-owned businesses around the world.
Here's some interesting facts!
- Women started an average of 1,817 new businesses per day in the U.S., and Women of Colour account for 89%(1,625) of those new businesses!
- Black women-owned businesses represented the highest rate of growth of any group in the number of firms between 2014 and 2019.
When looking at specific minority groups over the last five years, growth in side-entrepreneurship is up 99% among Black women.
As women, we collectively own these statistics. And we each have a role to play in how we can continue to support and create more women-owned businesses.
If you are looking for thank you gifts or professional services, make it a priority to buy from women-owned-businesses. Support these small business owners and your local communities.
If you are buying from us it shows that you believe in us and that you see us. It means that you support our daily entrepreneurial journey. As we celebrate today, remember, when one of us wins... we all win! Let's continue to fix each other's crowns.
Happy Women’s International Day!
